We designated a spot in the back of the yard in the corner to dedicate to just the ladies.  This area will receive a layer of sand and then gravel followed by a platform for the hives to sit on so they are not at an angle or sitting on the ground.

 

 

This is the bare bones of our hives.

We are going with a standard Langstrom set-up as most of the people in this area generally use these hives and the equipment is pretty easy to locate.

 

 

 

We are color coding our hives.

Each of the hives is being painted with an exterior paint.

 

The Aqua hive is designated as Hive 1.

 

 

 

 

The Blue hive is designated at Hive 2.

 

 

 

The purple boxes are being designated strictly for honey supers.
